Automatically display negative numbers in red in Excel 2007

With the conditional formatting in Excel, you can automatically change the formatting of negative numbers to display in red.

1. In Excel, select the cells containing numbers.
   
   
   
2. Click Conditional Formatting in the Style box in the Home tab ribbon Office.
   
   
   
3. In the menu that appears, click New Rule.
   
   
   
4. In the Select a type of rule, select the Apply formatting to the cells that contain.
   
   
   
5. In the description of the rule, the list scroll between and select the option below.
   
   
   
6. In the field that appears next, enter the number 0.
   
   
   
7. Then click the Format button ...
   
   
   
8. Pull down the list and choose the color red. Click OK.
   
   
   
9. Validate by OK.
   
   
   
10. Now, all negative numbers are displayed in red.

To Select Adjacent rows or columns
Drag across the row or column headings. Or select the first row or column; then hold down SHIFT while you select the last row or column.
and to select
Nonadjacent rows or columns
Click the column or row heading of the first row or column in your selection; then hold down CTRL while you click the column or row headings of other rows or columns that you want to add to the selection.
