Surf the Web without fear of recent security vulnerabilities

In a period where most of the dangers that threaten the security of the PC directly from web pages via "exploits" and vulnerabilities "IE-Firefox-Flash-PDF-QuickTime" not patched, the Norwegian firm F-Secure has the right idea to release a new shield "F-Secure Exploit Shield" compatible with all other security suites and intended to be, eventually, integrated into a forthcoming version of its own following, "F-Secure Internet Security".

As Symantec and its "Norton Labs" the F-Secure Labs chose (very long) to discover all the new defenses on which they work before they are integrated into their next action. The last production of the F-Secure Labs called "F-Secure Exploit Shield". This new shield blocks "malware" before they settle in their parent attacks without using a signature. "F-Secure Exploit Shield" and has proven very effective in blocking the first code exploiting the latest vulnerability of IE7 patch which was released a few days ago.

F-Secure Exploit Shield is a shield that works in real time when you are surfing the Web, and protects you against all the techniques of infiltration based on a compromise of the browser.

The software is currently free (it is a Beta version, restricted to a public warning and confirmed), XP and Vista compatible (32 bit only).

    - Begin downloading "F-Secure Exploit Shield" from the web site

    - Once installed, the software will manifest its presence by the appearance of an F-Secure icon in notification area (near the clock).

    - Double-click the icon to display the interface of the software.

    - "F-Secure Exploit Shield" has in fact two real-time shields:
    • Vulnerability Shields protects the system against attacks on known vulnerabilities and patched by the user (your computer is protected even if you did not ride on "Windows Update" for a while).
    • Proactive Measures blocks malicious behavior of the visited page and code it hosts (it protects you if the threat is not known by your antivirus).

    - The protection is completely automated. Once an attack is detected, site access and blocked Web page and a warning is displayed.

    Note:
"F-Secure Exploit Shield" does not exempt you from a good antivirus, a firewall or security suite. It's just extra protection, especially important if your computer is protected with a series a little old or free tools.

F-Secure Exploit Shield is unique in enabling ordinary consumers to get protection against ‘zero-day’ exploits for which a patch is not available. These are attacks against vulnerabilities that are unknown to vendors at the time of exploitation. Vulnerabilities in computer software open security holes that can allow exploitation. Patches, issued by the F-Secure, fix this vulnerability.

Re: Surf the Web without fear of recent security vulnerabilities

F-Secure Exploit Shield recognizes attempts to exploit a known vulnerability and shields the user against them. It also works against new, unknown vulnerability exploits by using generic detection techniques based on the behavior of exploits.

All F-Secure customers will also benefit as Exploit Shield reports malicious websites to F-Secure Real-time Protection Network.
