Speed up Firefox

Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1. Type about:config into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
   
   network.http.pipelining
   network.http.proxy.pipelining
   network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
   
   Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.
   
   
   
2. Alter the entries as follows:
   
   • Set network.http.pipelining to true
     
   • Set network.http.proxy.pipelining to true
     
   • Set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
   
   
   
   
3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New -> Integer. Name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to 0 (zero). This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages much faster now!

Hey friend, I did all that is advised in this tweak. Still after doing all this and checking many times, I dont find any speed up of loading pages in the Firefox. Are you sure this trick work properly?

Have you closed the firefox after doing all these changes? I tried this trick and worked wonderfully for me. You have to close your browser after you make the changes. When you start it back, they will be in effect.

I tried modifying those items and actually it speeds firefox up but not much. Is there anyway to make firefox load up faster?

Here are the steps you’ll need to take

1. Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return
2. Search for network.http.pipelining, if it is set to false, double click it and will toggle to true.
3. Clear the search, and search this time for network.http.proxy.pipelining, double click to set to true.
4. Clear and search for network.http.pipelining.maxrequests, double click and change the value from its default (usually 4) to 30, this makes Firefox make more requests to sites you visit.
5. Now, copy this phrase to your clipboard, nglayout.initialpaint.delay and right click anywhere in the about:config page. Create a new “integer” and paste the phrase nglayout.initialpaint.delay. Now, set its value to 0, to speed up browser response.
