At a relocation of the system, a lot of personal data is usually lost. This is particularly true of avatars, wallpapers, winks or images persos MSN Messenger (Windows Live Messenger).

To save, just in time to first locate, make a copy and, as appropriate, to rename or use a utility to re-import.

If you use Windows Live Messenger

* Emoticons (smileys) are located in the following folder:

* Avatars and the personal pictures are located in the following folder:

* Wallpapers (backgrounds) are located in the following folder:

C: \ Documents and Settings \ user \ Local Settings \ Application Data \ Microsoft \ Messenger \ your hotmail address \ ObjectStore \ Backgrounds

* Animated Avatars (Moods, Muggins, Meggos, etc..) Are in the following folder:

C: \ Documents and Settings \ user \ Local Settings \ Application Data \ Microsoft \ Messenger \ your hotmail address \ ObjectStore \ DeluxeDisplayPictures

* The winks (Winks) are in the following folder:

C: \ Documents and Settings \ user \ Local Settings \ Application Data \ Microsoft \ Messenger \ your hotmail address \ ObjectStore \ Winks3

* Finally, the contacts are in the following folder:

C: \ Documents and Settings \ user \ Contacts \ Hotmail

If you are using a version prior to WLM

* Emoticons (smileys) are located in the following folder:

* Avatars and the personal pictures are located in the following folder:

Import avatars, emoticons and wallpapers

For avatars, emoticons and wallpapers, just change the file extension to. Gif, again to import them into Windows Live Messenger. Note that it is possible to rename multiple files at once.
