How to crimp RJ45 cable

How to crimp RJ45 cable


To do this, you must have:
  • A length of cable FTP sufficient (but not too long)
  • Two tips of RJ45
  • Crimping pliers

After the bare cable to 2 cm at each end, we must separate the strands.
In general, a 4 twisted pairs of colors must be of:
  • orange / orange-white
  • green / green-white
  • blue, white and blue
  • brown / brown-white

To make a straight cable
We need the tips are crimped in the same way at each end and observing the distribution of the twisted-pair connector.

In general, the code used is:
1) orange-white
2) orange
3) green-white
4) Blue
5) blue-white
6) Green
7) brown-white
8) brown

For a crossover cable
We must reverse the parts 1 / 2 and 3 / 6, so on the one hand the same cable as above, and the other the following wiring:

1) green-white
2) green
3) orange and white
4) Blue
5) blue-white
6) orange
7) brown-white
8) brown

The standard EIA / TIA 568 A & B

Cable Law

1) white-green 1) white-green
2) green 2) green
3) white-orange 3) white-orange
4) Blue 4) blue
5) white-blue 5) white-blue
Orange 6) orange
7) white-brown 7) white-brown
8) brown 8) brown

For crossover cable 10/100baseT

1) white-green 1) white-orange
2) Green 2) orange
3) white-orange 3) white-green
4) Blue 4) blue
5) white-blue 5) white-blue
6) Orange 6) green
7) white-brown 7) white-brown
8) brown 8) brown

To complete crossover cable or cross Gigabit
On Gbic 1000BaseT eg

1) white-green 1) white-orange
2) Green 2) orange
3) white-orange 3) white-green
4) Blue 4) white-brown
5) white-blue 5) brown
6) Orange 6) green
7) white-brown 7) blue
8) Brown 8) white-blue

Note
Many Gigabit (10/100/1000 multi speed in particular) are auto MDI / MDIX and adapt automatically to the type of cable connected.
