| Re: How to Play Videos in Outlook Express with VLC Player
This is the pop-up I get when I open a video attachment, with the registry edit done, using .9 or 1.0.1. |

Tried removing access altogether for WMP, then opened the email video attachment. There was only VLC available as a choice, but even though the 'remember this choice' box was checked I had to make the same choice (from one available player) every time. |

Okay, I got it working. The registry edit you gave wasn't correct, and I found an easier way to do it. Open regedit, click on Edit/Find and type in vlc, then click on Find Next. Scroll down to VLC.wmv, for example. Click the arrow on the left to expand, then the arrow to expand Shell. Right-click on Play, then click on Rename; rename to Open. Click anywhere in an open space to remove highlighting, and you're done. Do that for each file type you wish to change. |
