Windows, including XP, Vista or Windows Home Server, displays a bubble alert when hard disk saturated and has less than 10% of free space. A warning that can quickly become very irritating, especially on Netbook and laptops where the system is often very satisfied. Here's how to remove this alert.

To remove this warning, which tends to occur far too frequently, proceed as follows:

  • Start the Registry Editor (type Regedit in the search box on the Start menu and confirm by [Enter]).

  • In the tree visible on the left, deploy the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Policies (make sure that "Policies" is selected)

  • Go to the Edit menu and select New and then Key

  • Key Explorer and click OK

  • Make sure the key "Explorer" thus created is selected in the tree, then go to the Edit menu and select New and then Dword Value

  • Enter the name: NoLowDiskSpaceChecks

  • Double-click the value NoLowDiskSpaceChecks created to publish its data and type 1 and then click OK.
