    Delete the file-sharing job

To install Windows Live Messenger, a "file sharing" is created in the workstation, which can share documents with certain contacts.

For those who do not use this function and want to remove this element of the job, this is the way forward.

    Editing the registry manually

This solution appears to operate in all positions. Remember to save your registry before any intervention.

    Delete the file-sharing

    1. In the registry (Start> Run> regedit), go to:
    • HKLM_SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ MyComputer \ NameSpace \ (FC9FB64A-1EB2-4CCF-AF5E-) 1A497A9B5C2D

      2. Add the sign "-" ( 'less') to "(FC9FB64A-1EB2-4CCF-AF5E-) 1A497A9B5C2D" to get:
    • "- (FC9FB64A-1EB2-4CCF-AF5E-) 1A497A9B5C2D."

    Restore the file-sharing

    • Do the same, but by removing the sign "-" before the registry key.

    OPTION 2

This solution may not be sustainable.

    Delete the file-sharing

    1. Make Start => Run and type regsvr32-u "% ProgramFiles% \ MSN Messenger \ fsshext.dll"
    2. If this does not go into the installation directory of Windows Live Messenger and note the filename of the form "fsshext.8.x.xxxx.xx.dll."

    • Same: Start => Run and type regsvr32-u "% ProgramFiles% \ MSN Messenger \ fsshext.8.x.xxxx.xx.dll" (by replacing the name of the file you noted).

    The file has disappeared!

    Restore the file-sharing

    • Make Start => Run and type regsvr32-c "% ProgramFiles% \ MSN Messenger \ fsshext.8.x.xxxx.xx.dll" (by replacing the file name that you noted, see above).

The file then disappear again at the workstation.
