Turn off display of thumbnails in Windows Vista

Vista systematically seeks to generate thumbnails of files and folders that poster. It's very visual and easy on a powerful desktop machine, but this feature is not only unbearably slow on older machines and laptops, but also over-consuming memory and energy. The off-saving speed and autonomy on laptops.

Under Vista, the browser generates miniature not only on the pictures and videos, but also on office documents and files! • In the search box, enter "Folder Options" and confirm by pressing [Enter]
  
  
• Open the View tab of the Folder Options box
  
  
• At the bottom of the Advanced Settings list, select the "Always show icons, never thumbnails"
  
  
• Click Apply and then click OK.
