I have a good news for all who have increased the system memory without using resourced or money for that. Ready Boost is an operating system feature that come with Microsoft vista operating system. Most of PC have very limited expansion capabilities which do not enable the expansion. Windows Vista have come with feature that help this issue. It works by many flash memory , USB 2.0 drive , SD card and any type of compatible device as a drive for disk cache. The USB drive serve as an additional memory cache .The computer memory can access much more quickly than it can access data o the hard drive. Windows ready Boost relies on the intelligent memory system of windows super fetch and can improve the system speed. Using Ready Boost flash memory for caching allows Windows Vista to perform faster than random reads from the traditional drives. When you plug the usb device to system, the windows pop up with auto play dialogue offer an additional option to speed up the process. Then ready boost tab is added where the drives amount of space compressed all data and ready to work as a system RAM. But there are some requirement for the USB drive, that the capacity of removable USB must be at least 256 MB , device should be access time of 1 ms or less, device must be capable of 2.5 MB/s read speeds for 4 KB random reads spread, initial release of Ready Boost supports one device and devices larger than 4 GB will have only 4 GB used for Ready Boost. Also the USB drive only supported NTFS, FAT16 and FAT32. When we will insert the USB Drive into the system, Windows Vista check its performance according to Windows Ready boost. If it fulfill the windows vista requirement, it will ask for see this device to speed up system performance. You can choose to allocate USB drive memory to speed up performance and use the remainder to store files.
