How to uninstall the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (JVM)

Microsoft JVM is no longer supported by Microsoft, and it is recommended to remove it and install the Sun Microsystems JVM. The steps for removing Microsoft Java Virtual (JVM) are given below.

    • Start -> Run
    • Type
      RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection java.inf,UnInstall
    • The un-install process begins. Click Yes to confirm.
    • Reboot when prompted.
    • After the machine restarts, delete the following items:

    1. the \%systemroot%\java folder
    2. -the file java.pnf from the \%systemroot%\inf folder
    3. -the two files jview.exe and wjview.exe from the \%systemroot%\system32 folder
    4. -the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Java VM registry subkey
    5. -the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AdvancedOptions\JAVA_VM registry subkey (to remove the Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) option

Re: How to uninstall the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (JVM)

To verify whether JVM is installed, perform the following steps:

    1. Start a command prompt--go to Start, Run and type

    cmd.exe

    2. Enter the Jview command by typing

    C:\< jview

If the computer doesn't recognize the command, JVM isn't installed. When the computer does recognize the command, the JVM version will be displayed. For example, when I type the command in Step 2 on my computer, the following line indicates that JVM is installed:

Microsoft (R) Command-line Loader for Java Version 5.00.3809

    1. Start Mozilla Firefox browser or restart it if it is already running.
    2. Select Tools > Options.

    4. Click Web Features > Select Enable Java

Enable the JRE through the "Java Plug-in Control Panel"

    CAUSE

The Java control panel is not configured to use the web browser. If the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is already installed but applets do not work, you may need to enable the JRE for your web browser.

    SOLUTION

To see whether your browser is configured to use the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or not, first open the Windows Control Panel. From the Start menu button, select Settings, then Control Panel to open the Control Panel. You should see the Java Coffee Cup logo icon in the Control Panel.

    1. Double-click the icon to open the Java Control Panel.
    2. In the Java Control Panel, click the Advanced tab.
    3. Click on + icon next to Default Java for browsers.
    4. Make sure the box next to Internet Explorer, Netscape, or Mozilla is checked.
    5. If it is not checked, click the checkbox to enable the JRE for your Web browser.
    6. Click Apply.

If you do not see the coffee cup icon in the Windows Control Panel, you do not have the latest version of the Sun JRE installed on your computer.

    Clearing your Web Browser Cache

Clearing your Web browser cache forces the browser to load the latest versions of Web pages and programs you visit.

For Internet Explorer 4.x and Up

    2. Click "Internet Options..."
    3. Click the "General" Tab
    4. Click the "Delete Files" button in the "Temporary Internet files" section
    5. If you still have a problem, repeat the steps above and restart the computer.

    For Netscape 4.x and Up

    1. Click "Edit" from the Netscape menubar
    2. Click "Preferences..." from the "Edit" menu
    3. Expand the "Advanced" menu by clicking the triangle sign
    4. Click "Cache"
    5. Click both the "Clear Memory Cache" and the "Clear Disk Cache" buttons.

    For Mozilla 1.x and Up

    2. Click "Preferences..." from the "Edit" menu
    3. Expand the "Advanced" menu by clicking the plus sign
    4. Click "Cache"
    5. Click the "Clear Cache" button

    For Opera

    1. Click "Edit" from the Opera menubar
    2. Click "Preferences..." from the "File" menu
    3. Click the "History and Cache menu"
    4. Click "Cache"
    5. Click ok to close the Preferences menu
    6. Please refer to the Opera support page on Web caching for more detailed information.

Re: How to uninstall the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (JVM)

    Hi,

If you are finding difficulties in manually removing the JVM machine installed on system, Try using JavaRa products from the Raproducts.

JavaRa is a simple tool that does a simple job: it removes old and redundant versions of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE)....

    Hope this solve your problem.
