Devices that are installed but are not currently connected to the computer (such as a Universal Serial Bus (USB) device or "ghosted" devices) are not normally displayed in Device Manager. This tweak causes all devices to be shown.

    1. Open your registry and find or create the key below.
    2. Create a new String value, or modify the existing value, called "DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES" and set it according to the value data below.
    3. Exit your registry; you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.

    Registry Settings
    System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTE\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment]
    Value Name: DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES
    Data Type:
    REG_SZ (String Value)
Value Data: (1 = show all hidden devices)
