How to Locate files and folders by name instantly
"Everything" is a new search engine for Windows. It will replace the default Windows Search Engine with a much faster one. Unlike Windows search, "Everything" initially displays every file and folder on your computer (hence the name "Everything"). In order to find your file, you need to type in a search filter to limit what files and folders are displayed. It will only use the names and generally takes a few seconds to build it's database (1,000,000 files takes about 1 minute).
It uses very little system resources (1,000,000 files uses about 45MB of RAM and 5MB of disk space). It continuously monitors your file system and makes changes in its database accordingly.
For Windows NT/2000, XP, 2003 and Vista: Everything-184.108.40.2061.exe
It will run only on Windows NT/2000, XP, 2003 and Vista. It locates files and folders only on NTFS volumes.
Note: "Everything" requires administrator privileges in Windows Vista SP1 because it needs raw access to your hard drives.
