Running Vista on a small configuration PART 1

    Introduction

Before I begin, I advise you to print this article, it will be easier to do it for head and rested with the instructions in hand.

Two things are necessary before you begin:
    • Think carefully before you follow these few manipulations: do things well and slowly. For me running for 4 months without any incident. All operations are not linked, you can at anytime stop or skip a chapter. Neither I nor the site techarena are liable for misuse or any problems occurring on your computer.
    • Next, make sure that all your drivers are compatible with Vista. If this is not the case, go to All http://drivers.com/ Simply agree to install a small program that detects your hardware then the site offers a list of your updated drivers is very practical. Remember to clarify that for Vista drivers that should be sought.

Many of us would have loved at least test Vista, but they were afraid reading the minimum. And yet this is the minimum lot with the minimum configuration is started and makes Word or parts failure 2D and after we look at the lovely theme, assuming that your PC you can see properly. Not really small configurations prefer XP, and much lighter handy. And then there was accustomed to organizing XP ...

I myself am put in mind recently with a soft object ... lighten Vista and purify all options really unnecessary ... and Vista was not won.

    Go gently begin:

The settings Vista and automatic installation

You choose your finished installation options, go to the next step. The current settings. Click NEXT.

You are now in the tab TWEAK Click OPTION

Always click Enable Iso this page you will create a DVD image of your Vista resolved. Click OK

Here we will start setting. It's simple you see. But it is practical for the future, it will avoid wasting time once in Vista.

    Force Glass Effect
: Active appearance optimum for Vista, it slowed the system then let the NO. Vista once we set the appearance to 'nice and fast.

Substitute are common with Sego UI: Change the police let the System ... NO

    Taking the tab SECURITY

Disable Realtime Anti Spyware Protection: Move the YES because we are going to install security tools much better than Windows.

User Account Control (UAC): This is the user control. This thing is a real ordeal in real time as each transaction a little push, it will ask you a confirmation (eg opening the Control Panel) Put it on DISABLE. That is not going to jeopardize your PC but at least he does not harass you. However, be aware that leads off a decline in security.

    Let singleton SYSTEM

Hibernation: According to Microsoft this is the best alternative to the complete shutdown of the system ... Bof! Disable.

Will require memory: that's interesting for small configurations. Disable the setting you prevent the system to prohibit the installation of Vista, if memory. As everyone is free ...

Let drop the tab driver we wanted to win power and the place is not to install 1GB of drivers then ... Go to the ISO tab by clicking Next.

Here you are on the final tab for this program, we only have to create a bootable image to start the installation of Vista. To do this, simply click on the button MAKE ISO

A window appears. Save the image on the desktop as you want. The process will start as soon as you click Save

After finishing the operation, you can close V'lite.

Delete the folder where you copied Vista will serve no more.

you just create an image of a Vista that you look a little more. But it is far from finished ...

    Burning Image with Nero

    Burning Image with Nero

    • Open nero (whatever version)
    • Close the new compilation window and click File => Open
    • Select the Iso that you just created with v'lite
    • Check that the system is burning on DVD.
    • Then click BURN
    • Once completed the engraving you have a 'DVD Reduces' Vista.

DO NOT FORGET TO MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA BEFORE STARTING THE INSTALLATION OF VISTA

Important information before and during the installation of Vista

    a) Once the backup of your documents made sure to put either:
    • On a partition to share
    • On a CD or DVD

If you need to create partitions during installation

What I strongly recommends that you also should allow at least:

    • The partition is of a size equal to or greater than 15 GB
    • Establish a small empty partition of 4 GB maximum

You can find out the exact size of the partition that you need in your Ram multiplying by 2.5 (eg 512 MB X 2 = 1280), and rounding 100 MB above (1280 +100 = 1380)

This partition will serve to create a swap file that will prove useful in spots really heavy. Originally it was located on the drive where Windows is installed in the moving but we can make it more effective.

Unplug your cable Internet (or network) before starting the installation

Windows Indeed generally tend to automatically update during or right after installation and that it is better to avoid short, it will allow us to start on a new, and possibly then not to take bets that Updated that are important And not all small patches that cause little bugs that need patching, etc ...

once you've done all,,, we will install Vista and we end up after the adjustments .

    Welcome To Windows Vista

    WELCOME TO WINDOWS VISTA

you're done installing Vista, you are in front of your first office. The first things to do is install the drivers you have downloaded at the beginning of this article. Restarts whenever it is necessary and let settle your hardware.

Remember also to format the drive that you created (if you create)

The basic settings appearance / performance

Make a right click on 'Computer' ( 'My Computer' in XP)

Your computer has surely been evaluated at the beginning of the first start ... On this page you can see the notes you have been awarded. this is not an index average is the lowest that you have achieved during the test. You can learn more by clicking Windows Performance Index .

Go to the device manager. In the tab disc player are your or your disk (s) drive (s). Double-click the hard drive icon .

By activating this option you take risks in the event of a power outage.

    • If you have a UPS or a laptop, go check it
    • If you do not take your responsibilities
    .

    • Click OK when your choice will be made
    • Then return to the screen "system"
    • Go to Advanced System Settings
    • On the Performance tab click Settings
    • In the Appearance tab click custom settings

    Uncheck everything except:
    • Use visual styles on windows and buttons
    • Smooth screen fonts (if you do not have flat screen is optional)

Then go to the Advanced tab, click edit , The file size is of an approximate value with a + and - and the system of 'yoyo' according to the power demand. the trouble is that Windows spend time (but tiny infinity) to expand then this memory compacted. We'll give him a blocked so that space is reserved and always available .

    • Click on the C drive and then click No paging file and then click Set
    • Click on the D drive (if you created the partition which I referred to earlier) or on another partition
    • Enter a value in the box Initial custom size (a value which should not exceed your RAM x2.5)
    • Enter the same amount in the case Maximum
    • Click Set
    • Click OK to exit

A window, reminding you that the parameters are taken into account after the restart appears, click OK Return to the system properties window .

    Go to the Remote tab

Some of you may not have access to these parameters, particularly if you have deleted assistance and remote control of your installation. do not worry if an error message saying that the page does not exist. Normal you have deleted .. :-)

    • Click does not allow connections to this computer
    • Then click Advanced Options Remote Assistance

    Play through the paranoid:

    • Limit the maximum for 1 Minute
    • Uncheck Allow remote control of this computer
    • Click OK

Then uncheck the previous window connections Allow Remote Assistance on this computer , Click Apply .Then go to the Hardware tab (just above) .In part parameters drivers for Windows Update click the Settings button drivers for Windows Update .

Select Never look for pilots when I connect a device. I explain:

When you connect a device, Windows offers to search for you (on site) pilots the most appropriate for your system. The trouble is that you have no control over what is installed or not . So the purpose of this explanation is to help you optimize Vista for small configurations and novices. It also means taking control of its own machine and automation in the Windows task is a barrier to your control. This is obviously optional, but has since decided to make your Vista . YOUR Vista provided show you every opportunity possible.

Click OK when you've made your choice.

That's the first Optimizing Vista that should already be a little less heavy. Mine nothing we have to solve a big security hole in Windows (remote control) and has already successfully tamed the management of RAM for Windows.

The system offers to restart, Do it.

    Adjust the Vista

Here it comes to large file section :

Services are modules of Windows that turn on and off depending on the needs of the user (you) or system needs

But some of them may be useful never see will be rather dangerous.

I could have myself to send you to another site that addresses this problem but I have chosen to talk instead of configuring the safest and most stable both in performance for small PC as security again vacillating on Vista.

So obviously we can not make the case here, many of your services depend on the configuration of your PC and drivers and software you have. For now I will speak of Windows then I put a list of programs that fall within the services and their settings.

    Ready? then let's go!

To access the services Click the Start button
    • In the search box type Services.msc
    • Make Enter

For each service there are four settings:
    • Automatic: The service starts at the same time as the Pc
    • Automatic (delayed start): The service starts at the same time as the Pc
    • Manual: the service starts only if one uses it
    • Off: the service does not start

In addition to these settings, the novelty of Vista is that in each case the service can restart itself, even if you've stopped, it is called retrieval options, each time you will disable a service will also cancel its options for recovery. It looks like that hard, but after 5 minutes you take the shot and it goes much faster.

You can identify the services that recovery must be stopped by an X. I will explain how the image that follows

    • Top right is the explanation Service
    • Green and blue, startup type and condition of service

Double click a service to bring up a window like this

    • In the red window you can choose the boot
    • In the blue tab in the Options Recovery Program
    • After each handling services made Apply then OK

After setting disables a service, go to the tab recovery. Here you see here that even if the service stops it will restart automatically after 2 times a failure (one stop). Change the settings do nothing in boxes, in this way services are forced to shut down and not restart. You will do this for each service noted with an X in this way gain free memory will be visible. I will let you do, here's the list and configurations that I recommend.

NB: All Vista do not have the same services if a service is not is that you have not. Do not worry it is quite normal, the Home version of Vista has fewer services than the Ultimate version or Professional.

For each service there are four settings:

    • Automatic: The service starts at the same time as the Pc
    • Automatic (delayed start): The service starts at the same time as the Pc
    • Manual: the service starts only if one uses it
    • Off: the service does not start
