File .CAB damaged or missing

A CAB file is a file containing the files needed to install an application.

If Windows displays one of the following messages, it may be possible to remedy the situation by reading the rest of this article:

"Error 1311. Source file found data.cab"

"Error 1335. The cabinet file 'OFFICE1.CAB' required for this installation is corrupt and can not be used. It is perhaps a network error, error reading the CD-Rom or a problem with this package."

"ERROR 1335. The cabined file 'DATA.CAB' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used"

"ERROR 1335. The cabined file 'DATA.CAB' required for this installation is corrupt and can not be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM or a problem with this package"

"ERROR 1603. fatal error during install. Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information"

Its due to :

1. Windows Installer corrupt

It may be a problem due to a corruption of the Windows Installer. To remedy this, simply click on Start, then Run and enter and validate the following two commands in succession:

msiexec / unregister msiexec / regserver


2. File Not Found

Try to locate the file to check whether there:

* Check with the Explorer file if the file *. cab missing is present on the CD.
* If present on the CD, copy the entire CD on the hard disk, check that. Cab is also transferred to the hard disk and the installation from the hard drive.
* Otherwise check with the Explorer file if the file *. cab missing is present in the tree of Windows.


3. Disc illegible

If the error is still unresolved and that the problem is due to a corruption of cabinet:

* Clean the CD or DVD with a soft cloth, then try again


4. Problem memory

Check your memory with a utility as MemTest:
memtest memory test its Strips ram with memtest

5. Special case: SKU011.Cab

To go in the registry: Start / Run. Type Regedit + OK
Follow up HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Microsoft -> Office -> 11.0 -> Delivery
Here there is a directory of its kind 90000409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9
Select this directory.
On the right side of the screen, right click on CDCache.
Set the value to 0.
