Turn off Hibernate in Windows Vista

Just type or copy & paste this command in windows command prompt - powercfg -h off

With this trick you can save lots of gb's of hard drive space by turning off hibernate in Windows Vista. Also does Vista have a feature of turning it off by the GUI as it was done in the previous versions.

According to Microsoft support this command has now been changed to: powercfg.exe /hibernate off.

For switching it on just use the command in the commande prompt: powercfg.exe /hibernate on

    Hope this helps

I think both commands above will work but not all systems may support hibernate function. Check your systems available sleep states by running the command powercfg /a from a command prompt.
