XP anti-virus 2008 is not an anti-virus, it is a rogue: "Software security using deceptive means to settle and perform other operations." Once installed, unauthorized software used most often alarms to inform the user of the presence of spyware or a malicious program on its system.

Some sites display a false alarm like the following with the words "Web Spy Shield Warning":

If XPAntivirus08 is installed on the PC, it is necessary to uninstall it via Add / Remove Programs control panel in safe mode and delete it also manually in C: \ program files

    Report safe mode
Restart the PC and tap the F8 key (or F5, 2 or 4 for some), until the advent of inscriptions with a choice of starter
With the keys "arrows, select Safe Mode ==> entry ==> username usual
More information about the Safe Mode see down

    • Safe Mode without F8

    Safe Mode without F8

Here is a trick to start a computer in safe mode without going through F8
    1. 1. Select the My Computer icon on the desktop.
    2. 2. Click the right mouse button on Properties.
    3. 3. Click Advanced, and under Startup and Recovery click => Settings.
    4. 4. Press the button change, to open the file boot.ini
    5. 5. In "operating systems", position the mouse behind the word => / NoExecute = Optin.
    6. 6. Press "enter" the keyboard to move the following line:
    7. 7. Enter the keyboard, or make a copy and paste the line below:multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \ WINDOWS = "Safe Mode ccm" / fastdetect / safeboot: Minimum / sos / bootlog

You will have lines like this

    [boot loader]
    timeout = 30
    default = multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \ WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \ WINDOWS = "Microsoft Windows XP dition family" / noexecute = optin
    multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \ WINDOWS = "Safe Mode ccm" / fastdetect / safeboot: Minimum / sos / bootlog / fastdetect

So now every time you reboot, your PC will offer the menu boot in safe mode, and in addition the menu starting standard xp ..
    Validate this amendment like this:

    Click on file => Register.

Close the window, confirm the changes by ok, in the window and start recovery.
You can also replace "Safe Mode ccm", by what you want, but keep ".
Very effective for anti-virus scans and other manipulations, which often require the safe mode .

Starting Windows XP in safe mode

Starting Windows XP in safe mode

    • Restart in safe mode, why and how?
    • Starting in safe mode with Windows XP
    • Method with the configuration utility system:
    • Without Failure Mode with support network

Restart in safe mode, why and how?

The Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode of Windows. When you start your computer in safe mode only specific components necessary to perform the operating system are loaded.
The safe mode does not allow certain functions, like connecting to the Internet for example.
It also charge a basic video driver with a low resolution, which explains the different aspect of your programs and the Windows desktop.
The desktop icons may also have changed their position because of the low resolution.
There are several reasons that can lead us to restart in safe mode, here I mention that to us.
For many files and files in particular malware, it is impossible to remove them because they are running. If we make the test, for the most part, we get an error message telling us that the file is currently being used by someone or an application.
Starting in safe mode, only the necessary files are loaded, deleting files is now possible because of their inactivity.

Starting in safe mode with Windows XP

Use this method (with the F8 key) unless Windows XP is the only operating system installed on your computer.
1 / Restart the computer. The computer starts processing instructions known as the Basic Input / Output System (BIOS). The display depends on the manufacturer of the BIOS. Some computers display a progress bar referring to BIOS, others may not indicate the process underway.
2 / At the end loading BIOS, start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard (or F5 whether F8 does not). Do this until the menu of options advanced Windows appears. If you start pressing the F8 key too soon, it is possible that some computers display the message "keyboard error". To solve this problem, restart the computer and try again.
3 / Using the arrows on your keyboard, select "Safe Mode" on the menu, then press Enter.

Method with the configuration utility system:

    Disclaimer

This method can be dangerous in case of infection of your PC.
Indeed, you can get stuck in a hellish loop in doing so.
To be used with extreme caution!

1 / Close all open programs.
2 / Click on Start, then Run. The dialog "Run" appears.
3 / Type msconfig then click [OK].
4 / The configuration utility system appears, see in the BOOT.INI tab. Select the option / SAFEBOOT, then click [OK].
5 / You will see displayed the prompt to restart the computer. Click [Restart]. The computer will restart in Safe Mode. (This can take several minutes.)
6 / Carry out repairs for which you have moved to safe mode.
7 / When you've finished your troubleshooting in safe mode, repeat steps 1 through 5, but in step 4, clear / SAFEBOOT.
8 / Close all programs and restart the computer as you would normally.

Without Failure Mode with support network

Enabling care network in the failure mode, can solve problems networks (difficulties in establishing a shared, for example).
You can use the first method described in this article, with F8, but also the second via the system configuration utility. In the second case, just check in addition to "SAFEBOOT" box "Network" just below.
