    File association fixes for Windows Vista

    Recently I was trying to open up an .exe file from a download manager & it gave me the option of open with. Accidently I chose Windows Media player and from that time onwards all my .exe files are opening in Windows Media player. Please help me. Thank you

    For user who wants all the file association fixes, here’s a compressed zip file vista_extfix.zip that contains all of the individual file extension association fixes above.

    Here are some fixes for some of the most common file types. Note that the fixes are applicable for Windows Vista systems only.

    Usage instructions

    To fix the association for a particular file type, download the corresponding fix from the attached files (Use Right-click - Save as option in your browser to download the fixes). Unzip the fix and extract the .REG file to the Desktop. Right-click the REG file and choose Merge. Note that you need to be an administrator to apply these fixes.

    File association fixes include fixes for audiocd , avifix, batfix, bmpfix,chmfix, cmdfix, comfix, dirfix, drivefix, dvr-ms.

    I think that the due to some server issues, the exe file might be lost and taking to a http not found location. Anways download the exefix_vista.zip from the above attachment again as it has been fixed and use the instructions for how to install it as given above.
