When you try to synchronize contacts, messaging and / or timing of your iPhone / iPod touch on a PC with Outlook, iTunes displays the following error message:
Either there is no default mail client, the current mail client can not meet the demand for messaging. Run Microsoft Outlook and set it as your default mail client.
As a first step, do as the error message tells you to do:
- Open Microsoft Outlook
- Go to Tools> Options, then in the "Other" tab
- Check that box "Make Outlook the default program for messaging, contacts and calendar
- Go to clicking OK
Microsoft Windows Vista
- Click on the Start menu and choose Programs default
- Then click Select your default programs
- In the left pane select Microsoft Outlook and right click Set this program as default program
- Close the window by clicking OK
Microsoft Windows XP
- Click on the Start menu and choose Set Program Access and Defaults,
- In the left pane, choose Set Program Access and Defaults,
- In the right pane, select Custom
- Choose a default e-mail program, choose your mail client Outlook
