    Removing isearch.avg.com from google chrome

I recently upgraded my Chrome browser to Version 27.0. Well i noticed some improvements in the browser but with a huge problem. I dont know why whenever i am searching anything from the browser's address bar, it searches by default in isearch.avg.com. I dont know from where it came. Everytime i need to type google.com manually in the address bar and then type the keyword for search. This was not the case earlier. I use to simply open new type and type the keyword directly for searching.

Can anyone please tell me how can i get rid of this isearch.avg.com and get the Google as default again? Than you.

Are you sure it started after upgrading Chrome? Can you see AVG Toolbar installed on your system? In Control Panel or in another browsers toolbar? It gets installed with several other third party softwares without you approval and then you face such problems. Hence you will need to uninstall it first by going to Add and Remove applet. Once uninstalled restart the browser or better restart the computer itself and see if the problem is gone.

Yes, I am sure I saw it after updating the browser. However I found it in my Add and Remove as well. I don’t know from where did it came as it was not there until day before yesterday and in past two days I haven’t installed anything in my computer.

Anyways, I removed it from my system as you said, restarted the computer but still when I search anything it takes me to the isearch.avg.com. I am too annoyed with this now. Please tell me how to get rid of it.

There is no compulsion that such tool bars or search engines get installed only with other applications, most of the time they get installed with other extensions also. So I guess you might have installed some extension in your chrome in these two days along with which you also got isearch.avg.com. Anyways, just go to your chrome’s extension and see if you can see anything installed related to AVG. If yes, you know what to do. And if not, then uninstall the extension you installed recently. Also remove all those extension which are not in use or which are unfamiliar to you.

    Hope it helps.

Here is the official method of uninstalling isearch.avg.com from google chrome as posted by AVG itself:
    • Open Chrome.
    • Click on 'Tools' (the wrench icon)
    • Click on 'Settings'
    • Locate the ‘Home page’ section, and choose ‘Use the New Tab page’.
    • Locate the 'Search' section, and choose your preferred search provider.
    • Close Chrome.

    That’s it.
