What are the characteristics of a modern website?

Guys just a curious question that I wanted to ask you all, so what do you all think what are the factors that make a new modern website? So you all can jolt down some of the factors that are required for the modern website? So do start with some of the suggestions that you all would like to share it with me. I would be happy to hear it from you all.

Here are some of the factors that I think are very much necessary for the modern day website

- Modern design
- A good header image
- Minimum usage of flash
- Use of cascading style sheet
- On-page optimization for SEO already(built in)
- Light weight images with lightbox feature for easy enlargement.
- Site should work on mobile phones as well

Dude there are many points that you have missed and one of the main thing is the use of social networks to connect with the general people, that’s a common feature that I have seen in majority of the website. A separate blogging feature that will gibe RSS feed. Site should be light such that it does not takes much time to load.

Many websites do look for different methods to add some contents that are attractive for the general public to increase their page ranking. Use of javascript to present closeable elements that would give a closeable message instead of a popup.

See dude many websites do look for updating the contents regularly, so that they have a good chance of getting indexed in the google. This is also one factor that is missing in the modern days website.

I wont agree with the minimum usage of flash since if you all look at the gaming websites then they are heavily loaded with maximum flash usage and it does not have much content but definitely it is a treat for the gamers to get in to the website and have a peek.

Don’t talk about any rubbish content it is the user generated content that is a hot topic these days and hence the option of admin for accepting or denying the content from getting posted is also a feature that is quite popular among these days website.

Did anyone try the HTML 5 feature.Using html 5 is a very beneficial feature for your website, the main benefit of using the HTML 5 is its client side validation, it is dam good.
