I will suggest you to uninstall the New Tab Redirect extension which you have installed initially. After that you should click on the right side cdorner tab button and select options from the drop down menu. In that you will find the second section will be home page section. In this section you will find to choose the option called “Use the New Tab page”. I am sure it will help you. If it really helps give me your feedback.

Initially you should set your Home Page and On Startup both as newtab. After that you should uninstall the particular extension you have installed. Then Customize google chrome as follows:
    • Clock on Tools>>Extension>>click on Developer Mode>>selectUpdate Extensions.
    • It will set the new tab page as your home page. Hope it helps.
