Norton Toolbar Compatibility Update for Firefox 10

Mozilla Firefox 10 finally available. Seeing that Norton made a first move toward this new version of web browser. They have released a Norton Toolbar Compatibility Update in order to ensure compatibility between both. I have heard that this will be available for Norton 360 v5 via LiveUpdate. You will at least need Norton 360 v5.2. To check if you have already got update, go to Tools > Add- ons and select the Extensions tab. See for following things
    • Norton 360 v5 (5.2) Norton Toolbar: 2011.7.5.2
    • Symantec Intrusion Prevention: 10.1.0.68 – 1

Don’t forget to enable this Extension

Symantec has published a hotfix that should establish the compatibility of the current versions of Norton with Firefox again. Use the download links therein for either Norton Anti-Virus and Internet Security or Norton 360 Version 5. According to the info from the Norton forum, the hotfix will not yet distributed automatically via LiveUpdate. Before installing the fix, however, all updates installed.

Re: Norton Toolbar Compatibility Update for Firefox 10

The problem usually occurs only when using Firefox 4.0. Presumably, the toolbar in the browser update has disappeared. Do not worry, the protection is still there, the problem affects only the tool bar. Toolbars are useful but not essential. The Toolbar is not compatible with version 4.0 of Firefox, the problem is known and is included in the latest updates. The toolbar should appear again, if you get the latest version of Firefox 4.0 and install. The problem only occurs on versions that were published before May 2011.
