smile No display when connect Laptop and LCD

Hi all, I really need help with this one. I have been searching for info for days and have tried all the tips I can find on the internet, but yet ...

I am trying to connect a laptop (Dell XPS15, windows 7) to Sony Bravia LED TV using a HDMI - HDMI cable. The problem is the TV displays nothing.

On the laptop, it indicates a Sony TV has been connected. I am able to change the TV's resolution which I have done so that the resolutions are the same between the TV and laptop. I have also extended the display arcoss the two screens. The graphic card (NVIDIV) also says 'HDTV compatible'. Driver is also up to date. It looks to me that the laptop is working well and is outputting to the TV. Also, I connected this laptop to another monitor before using a HDMI VAG cable, which works fine.

On the TV, it shows a HDMI equipment has been detected. However, when I choose to view that input, it displays only a black screen. This is where I get stuck. It doesn't show any error or message either.

Can anyone help please? Thanks a lot!

laptops aren't known for their video processing power - perhaps the tv is too big? You failed to list the size.

the TV is 46" ... I tried to connect the laptop to a 24" LCD monitor before, it worked fine.

    Thanks

yah, I'd say that is way too much screen for your craptop's video chip. If you want to drive something that large, you're going to need something with more horsepower - like a desktop with a real video card.

    sorry.
