Firefox updater unable to update the previous version to firefox 6

Hi, I have been using the firefox 3 in my computer and because of the previous reasons I haven’t updated any version ever before but now I am about to update the previous version but when I click on the update service option It was downloading the software but after sometime It says “can’t install a partial update” any idea what could be the reason, I am very keen to use the newer version that’s the firefox 6 if I am not wrong isn’t it?

I think it might be some problem with your updater itself, and I don’t think you’ll be able to update firefox 3 directly with firefox 6, thus you can have option to download another copy of setup from the internet and then install it in the machine, and there isn’t any need of updating the previous version.

I am agree with the above as if suppose you are not able to update it through the older version of firefox you have to download separate setup through which you can install it in the machine. but as the above user also forget to mention as you need to make sure that you have uninstall the previous version first of all and then install the newer version or you may get some other problem.
