Connect Windows Vista through a Linux gateway

I need to connect a Vista desktop to a wireless network by running it through a Linux laptop, but it only recognizes that there is an unknown network between it and the internet. I believe the problem is mismatched subnets and not setting the nameserver, but I have searched through all the configuation utilites and property windows and found no way to set the subnet or nameserver.

there are a setoff question that first came to mind while I was reading your query, can you ping the to the Linux laptop that you are having if yes then what is the reply that you are getting, and check of the gateway that you are using is perfectly connected to the modem as wire might be lose and that might be causing you the problem

Thank you technika, but I've already discovered the solution. The options to set a subnet and DNS are found in a properties box of the network card, and not the network profile. Once setting the addresses right, it worked perfectly.
