How to download google chrome extension source code (CRX) file from dashboard

After updating to Windows 7 for my laptop I have installed the Google chrome web browser. It was actually a fast browser. As you know that there are number of extension and plug-ins available for this browser. I have downloaded and installed several useful extensions to my one. However I would like to get the source code of those extensions from the dashboard. I know that they are in the format of CRX file but I don’t know how to download them. I tried by right clicking and “save as” but it didn’t help. How can I save source code?

The Google Chrome Extension file category is CRX. It is fundamentally a compression format. Therefore if you would like to observe what is at the back an extension, the scripts as well as the code, just modify the file-type from "CRX" toward "ZIP" . Unzip the file and you will obtain every part of the information you want. This mode you can witness the guts, study how to inscribe an extension manually, otherwise change it for your personal requirements. Then you can set it back up through Chrome's internal tools which automatically make the file rear into CRX.

A distinctive feature of Google Chrome from most others (except Firefox) is its flexibility and the ability to install additional extensions. Currently, the number of extensions for Google Chrome huge, and they decide maybe almost all of the necessary tasks, but still there comes a point when you want something unique, and it is desirable to own. As it turns out, it does not make them so difficult, and that would create a plain extension of knowledge is enough simple HTML. No third-party applications and development environments, you also need not only a notebook.

If you want to inspect the extensions of your position, know that you will find (in Windows) here: C: \ Users \% userprofile% \ AppData \ Local \ Google \ Chrome \ User Data \ Default \ Extensions. Extensions are stored on your local machine in directories with strange names, such as: fifndhoeenocc. This name is the unique identifier for your extension. If you want to look at the code of a particular extension, you simply go to chrome: / / extensions , and to identify the identifier of the extension which is visible when in developer mode, then go C: \ Users \% userprofile% \ AppData \ Local \ Google \ Chrome \ User Data \ Default \ Extensions or you will find the directory corresponding to this identifier.

Each Google Chrome extension is essentially a CRX file. While you click the “Install” key on top of the Google Chrome extension gallery you are essentially clicking extension’s CRX file. The foremost step is downloading extension’s CRX file by right-clicking the link and select “Save link as…”. Currently you have CRX file on your PC, rename it from CRX to ZIP. Now extract zip from any unzipping software.

Extensions are packed into. Crx archive (zip file), but during development, you can connect your working directory as an extension. Therefore, during development you can change the code without the need for repackaging. This can be done by opening the page the extension (opening the page chrome: / / extensions /. Click on Developer mode> Download unpacked extension ... and select the folder. To package the extension, you need to press the "Packaging extensions?, Specify the path to the folder containing the extension files, the field" Private key file "for the first time leave blank.
