How to hide a new tab button in Mozilla Firefox4

Is there is a way that will allow me to hide the new tab button on Mozilla Firefox. Actually the thing here is that I don’t like the new tab button on the browser when I am surfing and that too when I am making the use of ctrl+ N to get the new tab activated. So please help me in this case and let me know whether there is a way to hide the new tab button on the same. For your kind information I am working on the windows 7 operating system and using the Mozilla Firefox web browser. I hope a quick reply from you people.
