Unable to establish an http connection

Well I have a dell laptop at my place and I am using the windows xp operating system in it. Well I don't have any complaints regarding the performance of the laptop. The real problem is with the internet connection. My internet runs perfectly well with for some time say around 15 minutes. After that a connection timed out error comes in to the browser and I am unable to view any webpages from the laptop. Well I have tried several methods like I have replaced the LAN card, upon that I have uninstalled the browser that I am using and installed it again and then tried. Then also it is giving me some problems. well I have tried using the ping in the command prompt and there also I got the same connection timed out result. Now what other solution can you provide me to solve the issue.

Re: Unable to establish an http connection

Looking at the problem, I think there is some program that is running in the background and that may be affecting the internet connection. Have you recently installed any new antivirus software and especially of the avg. The new version of the avg gives complaints like the one that you are facing now. So if you have that antivirus software installed in the system then do uninstall it and replace it by any other good antivirus program like the Norton or the kaspersky. So do have a look at this suggestion and let me know whether it works or not.

Re: Unable to establish an http connection

You have said that you have replaced the LAN card. Well have you tried replacing the Ethernet cable that you are using in the system? If you have not tried then my advice would be to try replacing the Ethernet cable and do replace It with the new one. If that also did not help you much. Then the only option left would be to have a talk with the internet service provider. Try having a talk with the particular people associated to it and get the problem solved. The problem can be due to the weak service that they are providing and hence you are getting the connection timed out problem. So do report your problem to them and let them come and have a look at the modem and the other wires that you are using. So that they can get the exact knowledge where does the problem actually lie.

Re: Unable to establish an http connection

Well I did try with all the suggestions that you have given here. I have tried uninstalling the avg antivirus that I had in the system and got it replaced by other antivirus software. After that I also got the Ethernet cable replaced. The replacement of the Ethernet cable did not help me much. It is also giving me the same problem as that it was giving before. It works for some time and then the connection timed out problem . I am looking for some alternate solutions such that will help me get out of such problem. Well having a talk to the isp people would be a nice option but I am looking for some method that I can do manually to sort the issue here only. So I am waiting for your responses.

Re: Unable to establish an http connection

I think so you have tried with all the manual operations that was possible from you. The last option that I would advise you is that do have a check with the modem of the computer and have a look whether it is properly connected. I would not advise you anything about the driver for the modem since the driver have no relation with the poor performance of the internet. I would advise you to try booting your system in the safe mode and check what the exact error is. Upon that I also would advise you to run the network troubleshooter and have a look at the problem. It will give you the source of the problem. I think you are clear with all the suggestions so do apply it and let me know whether it helped you or not.
