HTML5 can be used in standards-based Web

Probably the most anticipated new features of the new HTML5 elements and APIs that will enable professional authors to integrate rich media content with HTML. Modern websites have to include more and more scalable graphics, animation and multimedia content so that visitors find the site attractive. To this day had to include this content special proprietary plug-ins are, like Flash, RealMedia, and QuickTime uses. Not only contain these plug-ins always vulnerabilities, but also the potential audience group is reduced because not all web users willing to install additional programs. HTML5 tries to solve the one with an approach to related standard languages. Authors may, for example, MathML and SVG files for equations and graphic images directly built into the HTML5 project. In this way, a major competitor to HTML data formats such as Flash and Silverlight, which are designed both text and graphics editing.

In addition to the featured screen technologies HTML5 out the concept of browser-based application cache. This allows Web applications store information on the user device. How the Google Gears plug-in cache can increase the application speed and enable offline use of an application. Google Gears is therefore planning to give up and instead to integrate the HTML5 technology. Despite all the new HTML5 features, users should not think that plug-ins disappear overnight from the Internet. The Web has a long history of the format wars and technology behind it, so often some time after a technology has been implemented, always older or unfamiliar formats are used. It will probably take years before a pure-HTML5-compliant browser will be available covering the same range of functions that cover the current program, consisting of many patches browser.

I am giving an example, so that you can understand it properly. For example, Vimeo and YouTube are already experimenting with the video HTML tag. But including multimedia content is not as easy as it sounds. The decisions of the W3C put in HTML5 standard does not specify which media codec is used. As a result, developers can not guarantee that your multimedia content can be played on any client device. Apple, Google and Microsoft to try the H.264 video format as a standard set, but open-source browsers such as Firefox and Konqueror are not able (or not willing, for ideological reasons) the licenses for the patents of this format to purchase. Because this dispute is not resolved, the authors who want to operate a wide audience, forced to still use Flash.

Not every application is already available re-written for HTML5. For example, the Google Gears API is not identical to the HTML5 Application Cache API. Even Google admits that there is currently no simple and generally valid way to transfer the Gears applications including the database easily on the HTML5 standard. As long as there is no solution for this example of problem, some users also forced despite HTML5 browser Gears installed to run older applications. Ultimately will be decided mainly by the browser market share on what the developers can get everything from HTML5. The currently more frequently used Internet Explorer 6 seems to be the "never dying" browser, so that developers for some time have to deal with the quirks of IE 6. Even older versions of Firefox, Opera and Safari have a large share of users and do not support HTML5. As long as they do not disappear browser versions of the PCs, is the only web developers the ability to create two versions of their pages. A clean programmed HTML5 and another earlier version of version, allows for using various tricks still a reasonably acceptable website for older browsers.

Re: HTML5 can be used in standards-based Web

Start using HTML5 will be good for one is the fact that Apple's iPhone and iPad not support Flash, but most likely will work with HTML5 well. Even Google's Chrome and the Google phones will also support HTML5. Large websites are usually somewhat traditionally conservative when it comes to Web standards. Even if HTML5 is already available from some manufacturers broad support, it may still take years to dare the big website-publishers for the step to get their pages up to date. Some voices in the Internet community word of caution. For example, Microsoft plans for Internet Explorer 9 HTML5 support, but also provides the software giant to support in this stage of development in question. To say that you have a standards-based browser, but the next sentence notes that HTML5 is fully supported, is a contradiction in terms, since the HTML5 standards up to now are not ready.

In fact, no organization has covered as a W3C itself when it comes to the question how the process of implementing HTML5 will progress. The HTML5 working group believes that the standard of the Candidate Recommendation status - the W3C standards process phase in which all functions are fully implemented - will not be achieved before 2011. If this happens then, the experts believe that it will take until 2022, these standards to be globally accepted and applied. They are a total of 21 years from XHTML 1.1 to HTML5. HTML5 is thus probably the next five to ten years and remain still-evolving technology. Web-interested, the already want HTML5 in action can do so in a somewhat limited scale. Some pilot projects and demonstration sites that show the different possibilities of the new standards are available online. Here is the presentation of the pages is very dependent on the selected browser. HTML5 features are reproduced with Firefox only partially. On the WebKit rendering engine-building browsers, such as Chrome and Safari come with HTML5 most clear. This means that Internet Explorer is an alternative if the chrome frame is plug-in installed.

Re: HTML5 can be used in standards-based Web

Web developers can already experimenting with HTML5. Full pages can be built with the code based on the currently valid HTML5 specifications. However, current browsers, like it was mentioned to play all functions. One of the best online sources for future HTML5 programmer is "Dive into HTML5" by Mark Pilgrim. The site contains many extras a guide to the complex possibilities of the HTML5 video elements and the codecs currently support current browser. As done in the HTML5 standard still so much work to stamp many organizations from the new technology as hype or episodes technology, from the Internet world again as soon adopted, as it had come. It is a mistake to see HTML5 Sun Standards are normal to time to be developed. In addition, many large companies are working on this project, have the interest in a new web standard. These include Adobe, Apple, Google, Microsoft, the Mozilla Foundation, Opera Software and more. These large companies see the value in a new HTML standard, HTML5 also help to be able to realize its potential over time. The resulting possibilities for Web developers are too heavy, as they could be ignored.
