What is SLA, costing and monitoring in Cloud Computing

I am here again to ask some queries related to the cloud computing. I am having very little knowledge about it. In deciding for the cloud, you need to establish service level agreements and billing procedures. In any case, companies should also services the cloud monitoring services via a monitor system. Actually we have taught this, but frankly speaking I am not having enough idea about it. So thought to take some notes from you members. Please help me in clearing my basic concepts by providing some information about mentioned things.

Re: What is SLA, costing and monitoring in Cloud Computing

An important role in cloud computing play SLAs (Service Level Agreements). SLAs describe the part of the Cloud-party services to be provided and their payroll. The legally binding contract agreed quality of service between the service provider and the customer. For internal company use the agreements are usually set only informally, this is referred to Operation Level Agreement. Basically SLAs include joint agreements, which are formulated from the perspective of the customer. The service provider shall determine the extent and quality of the services and describes the properties in a catalog. It includes, for example, agreements on resource allocation, availability and response times. Also on security arrangements, priorities, guarantees, and settlement procedures are listed. In virtualization SLAs play especially in resource allocation and use of resources involved.

Customers choose the cloud computing services from the catalog and instantiate them as needed. A competition in the market for cloud providers arises not least because the SLAs from different providers differ. A provider can lead to higher levels in the availability to offer, the other resource offers more but less availability. Often the quality of service at different levels such as Basic, Silver, Gold and Platinum is specified.

Most similar to the pricing models for IaaS and PaaS. The prices here are a combination of virtual infrastructure by plus processing time, memory transferred data volume and use special software or interfaces defined. The storage is the basic service and will usually be charged on the occupied volume per month. Traffic is tempered by the moving volume of data being often made between outgoing and incoming data. The cost of virtual instances are usually calculated in computing times per hour. It makes a difference how high the deployed CPU power, or how large expansion and how the operating system is constituted of RAM. Most form-provided CPU and main memory, a combination that can not be changed.

With the software or use the interface in the context of IaaS and PaaS pricing is complex. Sometimes paid a monthly flat rate for fixed prices, but often the cost is calculated as a function of the number of calls, transactions and data throughput. For SaaS offerings it is even harder to identify similarities in the settlement. Because of the diversity of the software landscape has very specific and heterogeneous reporting models established. Here is just one example: A Cloud Service "ERP system" could be prepared on the basis of a contract for two years for 1000 with some basic SAP modules, 1 TB of storage at 98 percent. As with other industrial products shall, moreover, in Clouds: Who decreasing large amounts of IT services often get discounts, on the other hand, drive higher availability and shorter response times the price up.

To ensure transparency of costs and the quality of service is recommended for users of cloud services, a permanent monitoring of the characteristics that the settlement is based. The process should continuously monitor the quality of service. In the case of deviations or disruptions in the agreed performance parameters from a fixed portfolio should be a suitable process can be selected for trouble-shooting - and preferably automated. The service monitors the performance of Amazon Web Services. It gives an insight into the resource-use and displays the current power and the access pattern. To this end, he collects data for the CPU usage, disk access and network traffic. The processing of monitoring data via the web service API, or via command-line procedures.

Re: What is SLA, costing and monitoring in Cloud Computing

An important role in cloud computing play service level agreements that describe the benefits of cloud services. Some of them are complex and take into account individual needs, particularly in the business segment, often enough. The terms of settlement are currently looking for users to be difficult. Occasionally, providers help with tools to determine costs, but they are hardly valid to determine in advance. In any case, users monitor the performance of the Cloud Cloud services on the monitoring system.
