Whether back link increase page rank?

I have developed a website for a small company and wanted know how page rank increases? I want to know whether content increase the pagerank. For e.g. if i copy paste content one webs page to other web page then it will have any affect on one pagerank. Many person told me that backlinks are the only option to increase page rank. So please give me a brief information to clear my doubt. Thanks in advance.

Well as far as i know content does not make any affect on page ranking. It does not help to make page rank. As far as i know inbound links are considered to calculate page rank. Well in simple term it is a link received by node from one website to another website. The total number of Backlinks indicates importance of the website. Backlink are usually used in to search engine optimization (SEO). For your information home page have largest PR.

Well i have done a lot of research about Search Engine Optimization and Backlinks and i have found that content doesn't make any affect on page ranking. Major role is played by the backlink to increase the pagerank. However if you are having quality content on your website then it will automatically help you to increase and maintain page rank on Google. So to increase pagerank increase Backlink

Well i am having solution for you to find out the answer. Well you have to develop two website. Put good content on one website and other website put less or no content. Now link both website on the same network. You have to wait till PR update. Simply observe which website has batter PR. It is far reliable then asking people on the forum. You will definitely come to know in which manner PR is affected?

Well according to main purpose of SEO is to increase the rank on the search engine. So i think content plays major to increase the pagerank. Pagerank doesn't let you know the rank on search engine. It only gives idea about a website. I think you have to sell links in order to increase PR. it doesn't what content you have on your website. Also i want let you that PR is also increase with the age of website.
