Citrix was mainly due to its Terminal Server services known. Which were originally designated as WinFrame, later renamed in the Presentation Server, which then in turn to Citrix XenApp was. Although the products over the years evolved naturally, they are nevertheless remained one: a tool set that is used to Windows to run applications centrally. In today's nomenclature that would be a pure cloud service. The PresentationServer or XenApp runs on a central server. The company Citrix runs its servers in a few central offices, which are distributed the world over. The users of these services are the Citrix employees and partners in the branches. The XenApp thus represent an internal cloud. Citrix makes it one of the early proponents of cloud models, even if they were not then known as such.
