    The remote device or resource won't accept the connection

    I just installed a new motherboard and have the network ethernet driver installed. I was originally on Vista but now upgraded to Windows 7 in hopes of solving my internet connection problem. I take the same cord and plug it into one of my roommates laptops and his computer can run the internet perfectly, so I know the problem must exist with either the hardware change or some settings that aren't set the way they should be. Things I have tried:
    • It's not just the browser not working, everything that needs the internet cannot access it

    • Tried checking/unchecking everything in Internet options->Connectivity

    • Tried reseting IE8 under Internet options->Advanced

    • Tried disabling/re enabling LAN

    • Tried everything there is to try under ipconfig

    • Turned off firewall

    • Reinstalled driver

    • Formatted my computer

    • Everything in the properties on my LAN is in order

    My ipconfig /all is irrelevant as it is as it should be when I compared it to my roommate. So in summary, I am connected to the network with all the settings I could find set to how they should be, my computer in particular is the only one that cannot connect to the internet using this specific cord. If anyone can even imagine what my problem could be let me know.

    You can try out the steps from the following link below and read and troubleshoot all the methods given:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/956196

    Alternately, check for malware, spyware, or trojan problems in your computer by scanning through an antivirus software, and also try to reset default values. Hope that it helps.
