Slow speed on reliance net connect

I getting very low speed on my reliance net connect usb modem. I was getting over 250 kbps download speed till yesterday but from today it provides me only 15-20 kbps download speed. I don’t know why this happens with my computer. I have tried several way to increase the internet speed but nothing works. It just happened instantly and speed was affected. I am quiet sure there can be some way to restore the old speed back again.

It can be resolved by specifying the timeout settings of Reliance Netconnect:

    1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe) and locate the registry subkey in the following HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE subtree:
    \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control
    2. In the menu Edit, click Add Value.
    3. Enter the following information:
    Value name: WaitToKillServiceTimeout
    Data Type: REG_SZ
Channel: "In milliseconds, the default is 20 000>

Note : do not try to increase the downtime. For example, if power is cut, it is possible that your uninterruptible power supply (UPS) can not provide backup power for the computer long enough to allow all services to shut down properly, and the operation aystem.

    4. Click OK, then quit Registry Editor.
    5. Shut down and restart Windows.

1 - Log into Windows XP as an Administrator and not just as a user who has administrator privileges.
    2 - Start | Run, type "gpedit.msc".
3 - On the left, go
    Computer Configuration
    Administrative Templates
    Network
    QoS Packet Scheduler
4 - Right, right click on Limit reservable bandwidth and select Properties from the shortcut menu
5 - Make sure the radio button is checked and where it says Bandwidth limit (%), set the counter equal to 0.
6 - Close everything and restart to make sure the changes are supported.

There are few things you can try finding out why your internet is working slow. First you can try re-installng the modem. So that if there is any problem with pc suite software it can get resolved. Then go ahead with updating the video drivers which will also help in boosting the lan transfer speed. And if nothing works then you have to contact the customer care of Reliance to find out what is the actual problem. Sometime they reduce the speed if your data size limit is over.
