Downloading stops at 99% in Internet Explorer 8

i have a desktop machine and it is been installed with Windows Vista. I use Internet Explorer 8 application and the problem is that when I perform a download it stops at 99% and do not move further. I have no idea what could have caused it. Please do help me out so that I can make the changes to be worked and process as needed. Hope to get the outcome in better way.
