    Installing Flex Builder on Linux

    Installing Flex Builder on Linux

I want to try my hand a little Flex, so I decided to set up the Flex Builder. On Windows, no worries. You go to the Adobe site and you take the Flex. For others, those of the alternative, here is a method to install Flex Builder on Linux.

    - First you must have Eclipse. Either via the Ubuntu repositories (but beware, some have worried because it works poorly if Eclipse is in / usr) or by installing it directly from the Eclipse site. Choose the Eclipse SDK 3.2.2. Unzip it somewhere.

    - Then download the Flex 2.1 SDK is distributed free by Adobe and unzip it on your disk.

    - You also install Flex Charting Components and start the installation with the command
    Code:
    java-jar flex_charting_2_installer.jar
    - And install it in the folder SDK Flex.

    - Then download the Flash Player 9 Debugging
    - Unzip it, then close your browser. Then install the plugin debugging
    Code:
    plugin/debugger/install_flash_player_9_linux/flashplayer-installer
    - As root, unzip and copy the file
    Code:
    standalone / debugger / flashplayer
    - move it to the directory
    Code:
    / Usr / local / bin

    - Then create a symbolic link to flashplayer with the command (as root)
    Code:
    ln-s / usr / local / bin / flashplayer / usr / local / bin / gflashplayer
    - Then download the FlexBuilder Plugin 2.1 for Linux
    - Unzip it in the root directory of Eclipse.
    - Then open the file eclipse/configuration/com.adobe.flexbuilder/flexbuilder2.xml
    - Who is in the Eclipse folder and change the value contained in
    - sdkpath to make it point directly to the directory where you unzipped the Flex SDK.
    - Start Eclipse and enjoy the new features of Flex (Attention flex Builder is a paid product, you must have a valid license to use it beyond 30 days)
    - The only concern I have is that I can not seen to have the "Design". If anyone has a solution I'm interested. Any one is free is to share more information on this topic.
