    PEER-TO-PEER in BitTorrent

I just want some information about the Peer-to-Peer in BitTorrent. I am using the utorrent and not much satisfied with that. Then I heard that the BitTorrent is useful then it because it has good P2P. Now I am not knowing about it and thought that knowing the logic of it would be helpful for me. So thought to post over here and wait for the replies. Please post as soon as possible. Also any other information regarding this topic would be grateful.

Unlike other technologies of P2P file sharing, BitTorrent is not only used for exchanging multimedia files. Publishers use it to distribute their software, such as Mandriva, for the release of a new Linux distribution. BitTorrent has been designed for sharing large files, like ISO images. The file is not distributed on a central server (except at its creation), it is cut into pieces and distributed replicated on multiple PC users. Advantage for the publisher who want to run its distribution: it does not need to open a dedicated server with high bandwidth.

The BitTorrent client software does not search engine, the user must know what he wants to download. At first, it downloads on the Web site editor, a "torrent" file description very small, containing information required to download and read by the BitTorrent client. This indicates the torrent file name, size, number of pieces that comprise it, especially the "tracker." This is a program to identify the addresses of people who download the file you want, or have finished downloading the file but leave available in its entirety (the "seeders"). consequence, the larger the file is downloaded at a time t, the number of machines identified by the tracker is high, and thus the greater the download is fast . The user retrieves, in any order, the pieces of files available.

While downloading, the client software checks at regular intervals a list of machines on the network, as well as pieces of files they hold. Conversely, the user specifies which parts it has. Several pieces of the file can be downloaded simultaneously. The customer verifies their integrity. BitTorrent wants to be more equitable than other P2P systems. Thus, the client software sends the pieces of the file priority to PC from which it has collected the most data. The lesser parts are sent first. When a client has the file in its entirety and let it available, the data is sent to the PC with the best bandwidth to make them available as soon as possible.

The BitTorrent system is not without drawbacks. Besides the fact that he plans to use multiple network ports that are not always allowed by the firewall of the company, the download may be slow to start early since, the user does not chip propose. If BitTorrent is interesting to download new software, much sought after, it is much less effective for older files, there is little demand.

The .Torrent is a small description file that contains information on the download file (name, size, number of pieces, signature), and the "tracker", which indicates where to find the file. The download proceeds from other PC users with some pieces of the file. The tracker of client software identifies people connected, tells the client their IP addresses, as well as parts of the file they hold. It updates this list at regular intervals. The downloaded file ends are available for other users. Client software consolidates file fragments into a single document. The BitTorrent client ensures the integrity of data using the signature file .Torrent.
