How to solve the server virtualization management?

Server virtualization saves power and hardware costs, but also gives rise to management problems. More and more software can help solve this problem.
Carried out in the data center virtualization benefits are: due to the virtual machine hardware configurations than the standard speed, can be hundreds of virtual machines on a dozen physical servers running, improve efficiency while saving energy and hardware expenses. However, because some companies have virtualization too big to carry out too fast, management problems arose. Hence I need help for solving the management problem of virtualization. The biggest problem is: Users do not know particular application software and other applications will occur between the hardware and storage resources conflicts. This will affect the ability of IT companies, while also affecting service levels.

In order to alleviate this problem, experts recommend that users use the balance of the workload and application service level management tools, such as Akorri's new BalancePoint. BalancePoint can show a particular virtual machine, what time and why is not performing up to standard; Based on this data, users can redistribute the load to increase efficiency. This tool available from VMware and storage area networks (SAN) performance analysis point of view, thus avoiding the virtual machine because the imbalance of resource allocation problems.

According to me almost all the companies using server virtualization will be met with management issues, including workload balancing, "VM sprawl" and disaster recovery plan issue. VMware tools, as well as a growing number of third-party providers of products can help solve this problem.

Maintain a balance between enterprise workloads

The workload balance is a very complex issue. One of the main benefits of virtualization can be applied easily from one server to another server. The problem is, it is difficult to know a particular server on a virtual machine has been too much. We can only run through the application software, as well as other factors, such as memory and additional storage case to be seen. If the virtual environment, several key applications, competing for the same server resources, it is difficult to distinguish the application of conflict, which will affect the company's operation.

To resolve this issue requires a variety of management tools. The United States a company called Monster using BalancePoint tools to enhance their VMware capacity of the two main management products, these two products are: VMotion (the tool by the virtual machine from a low performance and downtime on the server transferred out of the increased hardware utilization) and Distributed Resource Scheduler (common use of this tool with VMotion, based on pre-set rules, you can allocate resources to high-priority virtual machine).

Re: How to solve the server virtualization management?

The most important thing is: Distributed Resource Scheduler and VMotion show what the server needs to balance workload, but these two tools cannot analyze and display the VMware software applications other than the resource conflicts. As BalancePoint not tied to the OS, it can show whether the performance of VMware has been in the same storage area network software, the impact of other applications, Distributed Resource Scheduler is only through the host (CPU, memory, and memory) shows the relevant virtual machine performance, But in the storage area network running, do not show what a database server using the same resources.
