How to Spoof an ip address

I have done a lot of searching but unable to find what it is exactly and what it performs : Spoofing an ip adress

There are so many articles on the internet describes about changing the source ip in the packet header but how do I do that, from the articles I have read I found mainly that you edit the packet header and that it's legal.Please tell me what the concept is this ?????

In the field of computer networking, the concept used IP address spoofing or IP spoofing indicates to the generating the Internet Protocol (IP) packets with a forged source IP address that is called as spoofing, with the target of concealing the identification of the sender or impersonating another computing system.

The concept, spoofing is also sometimes used to refer to header forgery, the implementation of false or misleading information in mail or Net-news headers. Falsified headers are involved to mislead the recipient, or network applications, as to the origin of a message.

IP abbreviated as internet protocol and is commonly a number evaluated to your computer when it connects to the internet using your ISP ( Internet Service Provider). Your IP address is commonly an address for your computer as to your mailing address for your home.

Probably,every one website you surf has a log and in that log is a record of the separate IP addresses that visit the webpage.Using this information they can alert where you are indicated and if it is a rule agency they can simply find out who you are and much more personal information about you.

You can change or spoof the MAC address,using the following procedure :

1- Click on the Start menu in windows and then enter into Control Panel.
2- And then choose the Network Connections and select the desired network connection that you want to change the MAC address
3- Select the Properties of selected network.
4- A dialog box of properties would be appeared.
5- Now choose the General tab and click on Configure button .
6- So click on the Advanced tab and click on the “Locally Administered Address” property or the “Network Address” property.
7- Configure the value of the MAC present in box and save with OK.

Change the MAC Address of NIC in Windows via Registry:

Another procedure can be applied using the registry to change the MAC address of your computer system for network -

• Open the command prompt and type the command : ipconfig /all.
  
• Note down the Description of MAC address of the current network connection except Media Disconnected state.
  
• Now type the following command : net config rdr.
  
• Note down the GUID of MAC address for the active connection’s.
  
• Now enter into the registry and jump on the following path :
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  
• Expand the identified tree, and search for the sub-keys with the form of 0000, 0001, 0002.
  
• After matching with exact,select and hover button of the subkey and then right click on the sub-key and select New => String Value. Name the new value name as NetworkAddress.

And restart your computer to get the changes.
