Mozilla firefox crashes while using search engines

Hello, I have a desktop computer which is installed with Windows XP operating system and has Internet connection. Mozilla firefox is installed as the default browser on the system. The problem is Mozilla firefox crashes while using search engines. I cant figure out what is causing such a problem and hence need your help in solving the issue. Is this some kind of virus? Please help.

I think the problem is with the version of the browser which is installed on the computer. All the applications which are installed on the computer have lot of files associated to it. If any of the files of the application gets corrupt then the application will not work properly. The only solution to such problem is to replace all the files which are corrupt. Replacing the files which are corrupt will solve your problem. Uninstall the current installed version of the browser from the computer and remove all the files and keys related to the application. Once all the traces of the applications are removed, then reinstall the browser and see if the browser is working properly or not.

Have you tried using some other browser? There are many browsers available online which can be used instead of Mozilla firefox. Google Chrome, Safari and Opera are some of the browsers which are available. All the mentioned browsers have more or less same features and hence can be used instead of Mozilla firefox. Download one of the mentioned browser and then install it on the computer. See if the newly installed browser works properly or not. If you are able to access the search engines using the newly installed browser then there is something wrong with the application installed which has to be solved. Meanwhile you can use other browser for browsing.

Sometimes the applications/add-ons which are installed on the browser create similar problems like the one you are facing. Many times the files of the application/add-on which is installed on the browser is corrupt. If such an application is installed on the browser then it will definitely corrupt the files of the browser. Try opening the browser in safe mode. In safe mode, all the applications/add-ons which are installed on the browser are disabled therefore if the browser works properly in safe mode then find and remove the application which is creating problem.

There is high possibility that the computer is infected by some kind of virus which is creating such problems while browsing. Virus's have the tendency of linking with the files of the applications which are used frequently. If such a situation arises then the application whose file corrupted will not work properly. Therefore scan the system with some antivirus and check all the infected files. If there are any infected files then repair or quarantine them. After repairing the infected files check if the browser is working properly. If the number of files which are infected are more then you will have to reinstall the browser.
