Save a Link as a Shortcut File (extension: Url, see below). The advantage is of course, that you don't have to save the whole page and possibly all its files. I find this useful when working with projects, that comprise a group of files including text, pictures etc. Its is basically the same as a bookmark, but is not stored within Firefox but with your project files instead.

You can use the SaveLink extension as it work great with the Firefox browser. After the installation of this extension you will come to know about the its feature. You can choose the save link as file option from the File menu and click on the same will ask for the destination where you want to save then link. The link will be save as file with the URL extension. So use this and enjoy.

As you are getting the save link as option in the context menu of the Webpage, now when you right click on the Webpage you will get the new context menu item after installing the extension and that is 'Save Like as file' when you click on that you will get the save window as you are getting for the save link as option. This will save the link as the .URL format. Thats it!!!!!
