Using Split & Concat for sending mails

    Hi,
I want to send up some files on mail. I am using a mail client on my MAC pc. The issue is that size of that files is around 50MB which is not loading up. I think it is not possible me to send that. A friend told to use Split & Concat to divide the files in multiple parts and send in the attachment. Does this tool is safe or it will corrupt the file. Whta type of file format does it support and how to use the same.

It is correct that sending an attachment via email is easy, except when the attachment was too large. Our ISP does not actually is capable of sending large attachments via email. For that you can use iDisk to share files through internet. But his service is only available through membership services MobileMe. This is an expensive solution but very useful if you are frequent user.

You can use Split & Concat software for sending those large attachments. This application makes it possible to split a large file into smaller pieces (that's you who determines the number and size of these tracks), so you can send emails by successive bits to your caller, who it suffices to re-assemble these pieces to reconstitute the original file. It is a free software.

There are some essential conditions involved in using Split & Concat. Like the mail receiver must also has Split & Concat to view those breaked file in single piece. In order to re-assemble the file, and should also reflect the capacity of the mailbox you want. If the caller has a mailbox small, he will have to empty the same as your mailings to avoid its saturation.

Split & Concat actually works using Unix commands. You can use the same by Terminal. There is no problem in itself for most of your text files, audio, video etc. But for some file formats, it can lead to making the file unreadable. This is especially those files which are applications. In this case, simply make a disk image using the Disk Utility. You can do this by locating located in your Utilities folder and the putting your file inside the disk image, compress this disk image, then move the compressed disk image through the Split & Concat.

Split & Concat is easy to use. Just run the tool and drag your file in it. Enter the size of the pieces that you create like 1MB and click OK. Then it is set in motion and at the end of the operation. It is very important for you audio and other files to turn the extension behind the name of your file. Be sure to uour file is provided with its extension. If you do not know the extensions of your files, just go to the Finder preferences and check the box temporarily Show all file extensions.
