Google chrome does not connect to Internet

Hello people, I have a desktop computer which is installed with Windows XP on it and is connected to a broadband connection. Default browser on my system is Google Chrome. The problem which I am facing is that Google Chrome does not connect to Internet. Whenever I use Google chrome to browse the Internet, it shows "page unavailable | error 0". Can anybody tell me why I am not able to connect to internet using Google chrome. Any suggestions about the problem are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Have you checked you internet connection? It is possible that the computer itself is not connected to the internet and hence the browser is not able to display the webpage of the desired website. Contact your internet service provider and get the link which is providing bandwidth to the computer checked. If the link itself is faulty, it wont be able to provide appropriate bandwidth to the computer and hence the computer must not be getting connected to the network. If the link is faulty, then tell your ISP to rectify the problem.

Re: Google chrome does not connect to Internet

Google chrome installs many 3rd party applications or addons on it without prompting the user about it. If the 3rd party application or add on which is installed on the browser corrupt, then there are high chances that it will corrupt some files of the browser. Corrupted files of the browser means that certain feature or functions of the browser would not work. Therefore try disabling all the applications or addons of the browser and then try to run the browser. If the browser works properly when all the applications or addons are disabled, then find and remove the applications which is creating problems.

Try using some other internet browser instead of google chrome and see if they work properly. It is possible that the installation of the browser on your computer has got corrupt due to which it is not working properly. There are many browsers which are available online which can be used instead of google chrome. Mozilla firefox, Safari and opera are some of the browsers which have more or less same features like Google chrome. Download and install one of the browser mentioned above and then check if you are able to access the internet or not. If the other browsers work properly then remove the current installed version of google chrome and then download and install the latest version of the browser.

Are there any security software's installed on the computer? All the security software's like antivirus and firewall have the basic tendency of blocking the unknown traffic. Sometimes due to this tendency of blocking unknown traffic the security software's block the traffic desired by the user. Check if Google chrome is blocked by any of the security software. If it is blocked then move its process to trusted applications list and then check if the browser works properly. You can also try and disable all the security software and then see if the browser is able to access the internet or not.

Re: Google chrome does not connect to Internet

There is a high possibility that the computer is infected with some kind of virus which is blocking the Google Chrome from connecting to the Internet. Many virus have the tendency to broadcast unnecessary information on the communication channel which floods the communication channel. If the communication channel is flooded the network automatically disconnects the device which is creating unnecessary traffic. Hence get the computer scanned by some antivirus and then check for the infected files. If there are any infected files, repair or quarantine them. If the files of the browser which are infected are more then you will have to reinstall the browser.
