    Description on FCAPS

A relatively new term came across me called as FCAPS. What I read about this is that it is the ISO Telecommunications Management Network model and framework for network management. FCAPS is an acronym for Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance, Security, the management categories into which the ISO model defines network management tasks. In non-billing organizations Accounting is sometimes replaced with Administration. I need some more details on it. I want to know some description on FCAPS.

It is the widespread administration of an organization's in sequence technology (IT) communications is a elementary prerequisite. Employees and customers rely on IT services where availability and presentation are mandated, and problems can be quickly identified and can be solved. Mean time to repair (MTTR) must be as short as possible to avoid system downtimes where a loss of revenue or lives is possible.

Re: FCAPS is an ITU customary model

FCAPS is an ITU customary model for enterprise administration. The five FCAPS domains are Fault administration, Configuration administration, Accounting administration, Performance administration and Security administration. In the early 1980s the term FCAPS was introduced within the first Working Drafts (N1719) of ISO 10040, the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Systems administration Overview (SMO) standard.

Responsibility administration is the domain where network problems are exposed and corrected. Steps are then taken to preclude them from happening or chronic. By doing so, the network remains equipped and downtime is minimized. Configuration administration is where daily operations are monitored and controlled. All hardware and programming changes are coordinated. In addition, new programs, new equipment, alteration of existing systems and the removal of obsolete systems and programs are also coordinated.

Accounting administration is dedicated to influential how to optimally distribute resources among enterprise subscribers. This helps to minimize the cost of operations by making the most effectual use of the systems accessible. This level is also accountable for ensuring the suitable billing of users. Presentation administration is involved in managing the overall presentation of the enterprise network. Potential problems are identified, throughput is maximized and bottlenecks are identified. Improvements that will yield the greatest enhancement to overall performance are identified.

Sanctuary administration is accountable for preventing the network from unauthorized users and physical and electronic sabotage. Sanctuary administration is accountable for user authentication and authorization. It also maintains the privacy of user information. Sanctuary administration is the process of controlling access to assets in the network. Data security can be achieved mainly with authentication and encryption. Authorization to it configured with OS and DBMS access control settings. This are the some basic description on FCAPS.
