| Alternative to pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL
I am using Windows Vista operating system and my browser is Mozilla Firefox. I have a problem in my system that whenever I press CTRL+ALT+DEL, the system simply hangs and all the programs turn not responding. So, basically I have to restart my system to get it working again. I need to know is there an alternative to pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL, especially to open Task Manager? Please reply with suitable solutions as to what should I do in such a situation. |

| Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC
An alternative to pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL is to press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC. But, this can only bring you to the Task Manager. You cannot get to some other task as switching the user and such other things as you could have done by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL. May be there has some problem in the system files because of which it is freezing when you press CTRL+ALT+DEL. I have the same problem and the CTRL+SHIFT+ESC works successfully for the Task Manager. |

| Right-click on the Task Bar
Right-click on the Task Bar and select Task manager from there as an alternative to pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL. This method can help you in opening the task Manager only. My system too, had a similar type of problem and I had to format my system to get rid of this error. I guess this occurs when the system files for that particular option gets corrupt because of which all the programs become Not Responding and you have to restart your system to make it back to normal. |

| Windows key+L will help
Windows key+L will help as an alternative to pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL. This option will let you to lock the computer if you are not comfortable with the previous option. I suppose it should also work if you are having problems like system hang on pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL. May be this file has been taken over by some infection due to which such problems are occurring. Try to remove them by scanning the whole system and hopefully your problem may be solved. |
