Re: Is cookie a threat or benefit

A cookie is a text file stored by your browser so invisible when viewing a website. Information from cookies may also be read by the website that created it if it is internal, for any site if it is party. The cookie has a lifetime defined by the website. Cookies are generally used by Web sites you authenticated (eg on a forum so you do not enter your nickname and password) or to save your preferences (options that you checked). So clearing them up regularly is fine.

Re: Is cookie a threat or benefit

Cookies can save the user preferences when viewing a site but also some more or less information confidential. For example, following the response to a questionnaire on a commercial site, a cookie can be created to when to re-commerce site will show you adds targeting your leisure or you auguillier on some site containing articles to your tastes. To go further, advertising companies use a process of tracking cookies. This involves the use of cookies by third-party download any website and with unlimited duration. This is so not a good part.

Re: Is cookie a threat or benefit

The cookie contains an identifying number for your computer to recognize it on the internet. These cookies contain tracking the user activity on the Internet (sites visited, etc. ..) to create a profile marketing. Cookies can then be retrieved via banners / logos and related web sites or retrieve information contained in these cookies. The tracking cookie is often used by corporate governance pubs such as DoubleClick, HitBox, ValueClick. Finally, these tracking cookies may contain your email address but it is rarer in that case, expect to receive lots of spam since your address will certainly sold on the lists. Some are potentially dangerous.
