| Cannot open or delete .mpg file
A couple of weeks ago, I had downloaded a .mpg file which has a very long explicit name. Since, then I am trying to open/play the file. When I try to open it using Windows Media Player, I get a message saying that "This is an invalid file". Then, I tried to open it with several other players, but it keeps on loading and it system hangs out. Then, I have to restart the computer. Because of this I tried to delete this file. It is my bad luck that this file is not allowed to be deleted too. I tried dragging it to the recycle bin, but still no use. When I right click on the file, I get all the set of options including open, scan ,etc. except, the delete option. So, I cannot open or delete this .mpg file. Please suggest a suitable solution in this case. |

| Re: Cannot open or delete .mpg file
You cannot open or delete the .mpg file means that there is some problem with the file. The file may be it is corrupted. But in such cases the files cannot be opened. You must definitely be able to delete it. I suppose that you must have kept that .mpg file open in Windows Media Player. As the file is being used by some other program, that is why you are not able to delete it. Dont minimize the player, but close and then, try to delete it. Your problem will be definitely solved. |

| Re: Cannot open or delete .mpg file
You are saying that on opening the file it giving an error of invalid file. On trying to delete it, the file cannot be deleted. So, ultimately you cannot open or delete the file. I suppose that this is not a .mpg file, but some other virus file in disguise. That is why first of all, it is giving an error of invalid file. So, you simply need to scan the system with the help of a good antivirus like AVG because the file must have spread into the system everytime you have tried to open the file. So, you will have to first remove the threats from your system and ultimately you will be able to delete that file too. |

If you cannot open or delete the .mpg file normally, then I know a command prompt/DOS method to eradicate this file. Do as follows:
