connection drop when Downloading

Hi,
I have Compaq computer.I use 3mb DSL connection for internet.It works fine when I surfing net but every time when I tried to download something like movie or any other stuff my downloading speed goes up to 450k per seconds and then few minutes later it will drop completely and remain 0k for few seconds and then again climb up to 450k.I don't know why this happened.Is there any connection related issue or anything else?My computer is running Windows xp.

I think it may be due to irregular internet connection.You can check whether your internet connection is working or not using ping mechanism.It is used to check internet connection is work or not.Next time when your downloading speed drops try the following process:
Press windows key->click on run->type "cmd" in it->then command prompt window will open ->then type
PING 74.125.45.100
PING google.com
NBTSTAT -n

If it shows some value then your internet connection is working.

I think you might be using some download accelerator program.In download accelerator what happened that it use four connection to increase speed that's why it retrieve all data for few minutes and wait and again start retrieving data.If you don't use download accelerator then you can find that you get constant download connection.

I think there is some problem in you internet connection.Some time internet connection lost for unknown reason that's why your download speed decrease for few minutes and again pick up.I suggest you contact your internet service provider.
