How to create a new profile in Firefox?

Hi,

I have latest version of firefox installed on my pc. I'm trying to create a new Firefox profile with Xmarks but I am getting nowhere. How to create a new profile in Firefox 3? Can you explain me step by step ???

In short, I'll explanation you how to create a new profile in firefox.

I go in this case of a default install Firefox on Windows XP.

01. Close down Firefox if it is started.
02. Go through the tree to C: \ Program Files \ Mozilla Firefox
03. Click the right mouse button and choose firefox.exe "shortcut"
04. Click the right mouse button on "Shortcut to firefox.exe 'and choose' Properties'
05. Change the line "Target" from "C: \ Program Files \ Mozilla Firefox \ firefox.exe"
to "C: \ Program Files \ Mozilla Firefox \ firefox.exe"-p and click 'OK'
06. Start Firefox now using the shortcut "Shortcut to firefox.exe", the Profile Manager starts
07. Click on "Create Profile" and follow the instructions
08. Select the new profile and click on 'Start Firefox'
09. Firefox starts with the new profile ...

In the future you can use the created shortcut to start the Profile Manager

This works well only if there is not already running Firefox. I tried to follow the instructions and had them so Firefox already started. If I again start Firefox through this shortcut in the normal, regular way started. It only started working when I had Firefox completely closed and then started using the shortcut.

Alternate method, to create a new profile in Firefox :
1. Click Start> Run> type% appdata%
2. Rename the folder Mozilla.
3. Start Firefox, close Firefox.
4. Put these files on the renamed folder to the new Mozilla Mozilla folder:

# Bookmarks.html
# User.js
# Prefs.js
# Cookies.txt
# Cookperm.txt
# Hostperm.1
# Signons.txt
# Key3.db
# Chrome \ userChrome.css
# Chrome \ userContent.css

I've always only one profile in a folder, the file remains small. I can quickly make copies if I just (a new extension or something) to try and gauge replaced by a copy if I am not satisfied. For me this always been the most convenient method.

This may indeed be easier:

Right click (on the right mouse button) on the shortcut
In the field "target" is now the shortcut to Firefox
Fill that with "^ p" (^ represents a space)
Click OK
"Quit Firefox and restart it again.
Create a new profile.
You can change the default to your name or whatever you want.
